Aromatherapy

Those who are looking for relaxation and stress relief, or who have other stress-related symtoms such as insomnia, anxiety, tension headaches or migraines will be interested in an aromatherapy massage. Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils derived from plants known for their healing and pain relieving properties. Essential oils used during an aromatherapy treatment are specially selected following an initial consultation to discuss your needs. We also offer deluxe aromatherpy treatments using pre-blended oils that combine essential oils with homeopathic ingredients to synergise and create powerful treatment oils, which enhance and re-balance health and well-being.

Benefits and Effects

An aromatherapy massage can lead to the physical relaxation of muscles, thereby easing muscular tension. This in turn can assist stress relief and relieve other tension related problems such as headaches, anxiety, insomnia, nervous stomach etc. Aromatherapy is more of a relaxing massage when compared to sports and remedial massage with slower and lighter massage strokes used throughout the treatment.

The physical relaxation of muscles, whether induced for pleasure or the treatment of pain can enhance blood flow, thereby accelerating physical repair and the restoration of normal function.

What to Expect During an Aromatherapy Treatment

Before an aromatherapy massage commences you will be asked to complete a consent form in order to check for contra-indications and allow the therapist to deliver a safe and effective treatment. A medical and surgical history will also be taken in addition to questioning regarding your current health and your current injuries or symptoms (if any). This information also helps to ascertain the most effective course of treatment.

After the initial discussion and record taking you will be required to remove some or all all of your outer clothing depending on whether you are having a full body
or back, neck and shoulder massage. If you are having a full body treatment this will include a facial massage and a stomach massage, but this is completely optional and will be discussed with you before the treatment begins.

The therapist will leave the room while you undress to your underwear. You will be provided with towels to preserve your modesty and once on the massage couch your whole body will be covered in towels. The only body part that will be exposed is the body part that the massage therapist is working on.
