Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Ear Candling or Hopi Ear Candling) is an ancient and natural therapy. It has been used for centuries and was traditionally used by The Native American Hopi Indians on a spiritual and ceremonial basis. The
candles used are hollow and are based on a traditional formula used by
the Hopi Indians. The candles consist of linen, beeswax and extracts of honey with the
addition of herbs known for their therapeutic effects.
Today this ancient therapy is used for its practical and therapeutic purposes relating to problems arising in the head, ear, nose and throat. However, it is an extremely relaxing treatment that can have a relaxing effect on the whole body.
The
candles work very gently and the heat, vibrations and gentle chimney effect created by the warm air moving through the candle creates a pleasant
warming and massaging effect on the eardrum which helps to balance the ears, sinusses and forehead whilst dispersing and softening hardened ear wax.
Treatment includes an ear and facial massage using lymphatic drainage and accupressure techniques to relieve sinus congestion and alleviate headaches by stimulating the lymphatic system and encouraging the body to use natural methods of expelling toxins in the body. It is a completely safe treatment, suitable for children and is a holistic alternative to ear syringing.
