Thermal Auricular involves the insertion of hollow candles to each ear and is unsuitable for those with grommets, with an infection or inflammation of the ear or perforation of the ear drum. It is advisable to keep hair products to a minimun when attending an ear candling appointment.
We have both Hopi Ear Candles and Canadian Ear Candles available for use. If you have had treatments with both before and would prefer to use one over the other please let us know on making your appointment.
Before treatment begins you
will be asked to complete a consent form in order
to check for contra-indications and allow the rehabilitation therapist
to deliver a safe and effective treatment. A medical and surgical
history will also be taken in addition to questioning regarding what you hope to gain from the treatment, your current health and injuries or symptoms (if any). This
information also helps to ascertain the most effective course of
treatment.
You do not need to remove any of your clothing for this treatment but it is advisable to wear comfortable clothing. After
the initial discussion and record taking you will be asked to lie flat on the couch where the treatment with begin with short neck and shoulder massage to induce a relaxed state. You will then be asked to lie on your side (or in whatever position is most comfortable) for the ear candling treatment.
The treatment is ended with an ear and facial massage using lymphatic drainage and accupressure techniques
to relieve sinus congestion and alleviate headaches by stimulating the
lymphatic system and encouraging the body to use natural methods of
expelling toxins in the body.
